The Last of Us’ eighth episode opens with the introduction of a religious cult congregating in a freezing, deserted town. They are greeted by David, who informs a girl who is crying that they will have to wait until spring to bury her father since the earth is too hard. After the sermon, David approaches James outdoors, who questions their course of action and expresses concern over the limited nature of their resources. Everyone has had a difficult last six months, but for the time being, the two agree on their course of action. Ellie makes the decision to go hunting with a gun in the meanwhile.
